Your boyfriend finally popped the question. Fortunately for him, you said yes. So now that you’re engaged, it’s time for you to do what you should do months in advance – wedding planning. But if you’re from Batangas and you’re planning a Batangas wedding, then you may want to check the wedding traditions first. Once the dust had settled, it’s time to get to business by having a wedding checklist.
You can choose to get a wedding coordinator for a worry-free wedding planning. But before you do that, you should know the ins and outs of the preparation. It wouldn’t hurt for you to have your own wedding checklist especially if you’re just getting the wedding coordinator’s on the day services. So if you choose to coordinate your own wedding with the help of some friends, here is a simple wedding checklist that you can check:
10 to 12 months
This is when you should book the two major things – Church and venue. A wedding planning will start with these two things. This is especially true if you have a dream Church and venue in mind. For example, Batangenyas have always dreamed about getting married in the Cathedral of St. Sebastian in Lipa City. So you can just imagine that there are a lot of couples trying to book it. Most venues also hold just one wedding a day. So take care of this at once. Once you have crossed them off your wedding checklist, then you can breath easy.
8 to 10 months
This is when you’re going to book the major suppliers like the caterer, photo and video services, couturier, hair and make up artist and florist. If you’re planning a Batangas wedding, there are a lot of great wedding suppliers around the area. You don’t have to finalize all the details since a lot of things can change during the wedding planning. A reservation to block the date of your wedding would suffice.
6 to 8 months
Depending on your couturier’s workload, you can choose to have your initial fitting during this time. You can also do the food tasting with the caterer so you can choose the menu. You should also book your wedding cake supplier during this time. For entertainment, the emcee, sound system and musicians should be booked as well. You should also find the supplier of your invitations.
4 to 6 months
This is the crucial part of your wedding planning. Take a look at your wedding checklist and finalize all the details for all the booked suppliers. You should also send out a “Save the Date” reminder to your intended guests so that they can block the date of your wedding. You can also book minor suppliers during this time like the mobile bar and the photobooth. Check with your Church for any pending requirements that you should take care of.
2 to 4 months
Start sending out invitations and put a note there asking them to RSVP. Take a look again at your wedding checklist and ask your suppliers to update you. This is the time to take care of the wedding souvenirs and missalette. You should also have your honeymoon taken care of at this time. Depending on where you’re going to have your honeymoon, this can be as early as 6 to 8 months especially if you need to take care of visas.
1 to 2 months
You’re now at the homestretch of your wedding planning. Now is the time to iron out all the details with your suppliers to make sure that everything will go as planned. This is the time to check your wedding checklist regularly. Contact those who didn’t send their RSVP to check if they’re coming. You can start your beauty regimen at this time but check with your hair and make up artist for any restrictions first.
Less than 1 month
Now is the time to relax. If you have a wedding coordinator, it’s their time to shine. If you have friends helping you out, make sure that they know their roles.
Just remember that this wedding checklist is just a guideline. Obviously, the needs will change depending on the length of your preparation and the theme that you will be having. Just enjoy the wedding preparations because you’re (hopefully) going to do it just once! It’s a great experience that’s meant to be enjoyed.
